Em Nome De Deus
'bringing light where there's darkness' - Zahira Mous
In December 2018, Zahira was the first woman that publicly came forward about the sexual abuse committed by world famous spiritual 'healer' John of God, João Teixeira de Faria. Zahira broke the silence for 700 women that shared also having been sexually abused by the same monster, crimes dating back to the 1970s. This catapulted into a nation-wide #metoo movement in Brazil.
Investigation reveals how Brazil's most famous medium, known as John of God or João de Deus in Brazil, hid hundreds of sexual abuse and other crimes thanks to a safety net that combined fanaticism, violence, fame and power. The investigation resulted in a six-episodes docu-serie on streaming GloboPlay (English subtitles available), created by the team of talk show Conversa com Bial, during which several victims join hands and share their stories in a support circle of women.
Three episodes are recently shown on open TV on 3, 10, and 17 March 2021.
