Oklahoma International Dance Festival

During the summer intensive of 2021, Zahira taught modern dance technique and Art in Motion at the Oklahoma International Dance Festival (OIDF) based in the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) Department of Dance in Edmond, Oklahoma (USA). Zahira was simultaneously invited to sit on the jury for the Solocoreografico Choreography Competition hosted during OIDF.

Artist-in-Residence & Music Video | Spain

Zahira was invited to an artist-in-residence at JOYA-Air in the South of Spain in February of 2022, a beautifully renovated former almond blossom tree farm into a place to create art and live together with nature, respecting local ecology. Zahira spent two weeks working on Soul Famine. During her time in the residence, she also met Belgian singer-songwriter Jasper Erkens and  choreographed and danced in the music video for Erken's track Both Hearts on Fire

Catharsis Holistic Healing - Palestine

In June 2022, Zahira facilitated dance therapy (based on her method Art in Motion) in the first Trauma Healing Conference in the Arab world in Jericho, Palestine by organization Catharsis Holistic Healing, founded and directed by Ashira Darwish. In collaboration with Dr. Gabor Maté and Kath Temple. With an online follow-up conference in January 2023. Zahira visited again in person in February 2024 to work with women from Gaza and facilitate a healing dance workshop in Ramallah, West Bank.

Soul Famine - performance & art | Amsterdam

Sept. 2022. An absurdist, tragicomic solo about depression. A performance created to make the invisibility of mental health issues visible. With possibility of talking post-show. With accompanying paintings inspired by the Japanese golden-repair method 'kintsukuroi.'

The Rite - a dance theater experience about femicide  

Most of 2023 was dedicated to creating THE RITE - a duet about femicide, which Zahira made in co-creation with Ivana Berkhout. Due to Zahira falling off the set during rehearsal two weeks prior to opening night, she replaced herself with dancer Rosalie van Wamel. THE RITE successfully played for four nights in Cultuurhuis de Brakke Grond in Amsterdam. Each performance was accompanied by an after-talk with the audience, moderated by human rights attorney Geraldine Moodley.

You're your own guru - performance - Paradiso Amsterdam

Zahira and Kaley Chaibva created brand new alteregos for a unique performance in Paradiso Amsterdam in December 2023. A comedic duet.

 

YOU'RE YOUR OWN GURU is a comedic duet, during which "Shanti & Shakti" give tools for spiritual and emotional healing.
